LAHTI – DYNAMIC CENTER OF EXCELLENCE IN THE NIEMI AREA
The Niemi area is where traditions and the present day shake hands. When the Finnish furniture factory Isku set up shop in the Niemi area on the first half of the 20th century, a significant chapter was written in the history of the area. The story continues and today Isku’s success is widely known.
The modern science park in the Niemi area together with the idyllic setting of Mukkula Manor form unique surroundings for any environmental operation. The Lahti Science Park area is Finland’s leading cluster for research, education and business in cleantech. Four universities specializing in environmental matters operate in the Science Park as does Finland’s leading cleantech technology center. The development will continue as the Lahti University of Applied Sciences gradually transfers all of its operations to the Science Park. The Park welcomes both small and large companies and offers customized office services.
Lahti’s location near the Helsinki metropolitan area and the Russian markets add to the attraction of the Niemi center of excellence. The markets are easily accessible and there is a plentiful skilled workforce at hand.
